It's our program for seniors in the community through which we work with various community organizations to provide work-out classes, health screenings, outings, food assistance, and more. It is our way of making sure seniors in our community have access to the support and resources they need.
In November 2024, we brought weekly bingo classes for the senior residents temporarily living at one of PADS Lake County's hotel shelter sites. In collaboration with Oak St. Health, we get together every Thursday to create a space where the residents can have fun, share laughs, and even win exciting prizes.
In April 2024, we attended Zion Township's Senior Resource Center Fair, during which we spoke with seniors in the community about our services while handing out free breakfast items, hand soap, and prizes. This fair was also a great chance to meet and connect with fellow local organizations. We're so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful event from Zion Township, working together to make a positive impact in the lives of our seniors.
The Roberti Community House took seniors and their families to an outing to the Chicago Botanic Garden in March 2024. We were happy to work with them by providing transportation to and from the event, helping to provide them with the opportunity to see the garden's blooming foliage. We're so grateful to the Roberti Community House for all the work they do for the community. Thank you for creating opportunities to bring our community closer together and build a better future!
In May 2023, Oak Street Health had us over for a Senior Lunch and Learn, where we had an open space to talk about depression and mental health while enjoying a delicious lunch. These can be difficult but important topics to discuss, and we are grateful to Oak Street Health for welcoming us to be a part of the conversation.
In 2020, we offered free COVID-19 Care Packages to seniors in the Lake County, IL area. These packages included groceries, cleaning supplies, bleach, masks, gloves, and a hot meal. These care packages were provided thanks to the sponsorship of United Way of Lake County's generous donors. Thank you for working with us to provide seniors in the community with these essential supplies during such uncertain times.
We're also incredibly grateful to Our Shining Stars Foundation for providing dairy products and assisting with deliveries. We cannot thank you enough for delivering the care packages right to people's doors, ensuring there were no barriers to receiving these essential items seniors in our community were in need of.
