The Family First Center of Lake County: Empowering Families for Over 25 Years

We are a nonprofit organization based in Lake County, IL that provides wraparound services such as case management, therapy, and youth programs, driven by our mission to empower families and strengthen the community. Through these wraparound services, we serve children, adults, and families impacted by trauma, housing instability, substance use, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

BOOKKEEPER

The Bookkeeper plays a key role in supporting financial operations by ensuring accurate transaction processing, timely reconciliations, and well-organized financial records. This position is responsible for maintaining audit-ready documentation, tracking financial activity, and resolving discrepancies to uphold the integrity and reliability of the organization’s financial systems.


Description

The Bookkeeper plays a critical part in financial operations, compliance, and reporting by managing transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting internal and external audits.


Key Responsibilities

  • Record and classify financial transactions accurately
  • Process invoices, payments, and reconcile accounts
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records
  • Support reporting and month-end processes


Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or financial operations experience
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies


Preferred:

  • Experience with nonprofit accounting
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Gusto)
  • Experience with reconciliations and audit preparation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

CASE MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT

Join our team as a Case Management Assistant performing Medicaid-billable support activities under the direction and supervision of licensed clinicians.


Description

The Case Management Assistant role exists to generate revenue while supporting clinical work, but only if every billable minute is properly documented and coded. The Assistant is not just a helper; they are a revenue generator whose work directly funds the organization. Success is measured in billable hours logged, claims submitted, and revenue collected—not just tasks completed.


Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and time‑tracking accuracy (15‑minute increments)
  • Basic understanding of Medicaid‑funded services or willingness to learn
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort working in a structured, metrics‑driven environment with daily expectations
  • Ability to follow supervision, use checklists, and adhere to compliance protocols
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and follow supervision


Preferred:

  • Experience in behavioral health, social services, non-profit, or healthcare support, particularly in Lake County.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid billing or time‑logging practices
  • Strong documentation skills and comfort using EHR systems
  • Ability to coordinate resources, make collateral contacts, and support case management tasks
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to follow structured workflows
  • Experience working with diverse populations and community agencies

UNLICENSED COUNSELOR (MASTER’S LEVEL)

This role is ideal for a Master’s-level clinician seeking supervised hours toward LPC licensure. The counselor will provide individual counseling under supervision while building clinical competence in trauma-informed care.


Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling services under clinical supervision
  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation
  • Participate in supervision and training requirements
  • Adhere to ethical, legal, and organizational standards


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or current enrollment) in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Eligible for practicum, internship, or post-graduate LPC hours
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care

We are seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) interested in accruing hours toward LCPC licensure, with a focus on trauma, anxiety, and depression across diverse populations.


Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapy using evidence-based practices
  • Maintain ethical and clinical documentation standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams as needed


Qualifications

  • Active Illinois LPC license
  • Master’s degree in Counseling or related field
  • Experience or strong interest in trauma-informed treatment
  • Desire to pursue LCPC licensure

The CADC Counselor provides substance use counseling to individuals navigating addiction, recovery, and co-occurring challenges.

  • Provide substance use counseling and recovery support
  • Conduct assessments, treatment planning, and documentation
  • Collaborate with internal programs and referral partners


Qualifications

  • Active CADC credential (Illinois)
  • Experience in substance use or co-occurring disorders preferred
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction and recovery models

  • Provide individual counseling to children and youth

Family First Center of Lake County is seeking contract clinicians to provide telehealth counseling services to children, adults, and families. Ideal candidates are trauma-informed, self-directed, and committed to accessible mental health care.


Ideal Candidates Include:

  • LPCs, LCPCs, CADCs, LSWs, LCSWs, or Master’s-level clinicians accruing hours
  • Clinicians experienced in trauma, anxiety, depression, family systems, or substance use
  • Providers seeking flexible, mission-driven contract work
